An Open Letter to WWE: It is Time to Fix SmackDown and Bring Back the Spark
Dear WWE Management,
As a dedicated professional wrestling fan, I am writing this to ask you to please fix Friday Night SmackDown. For a very long time, SmackDown was known as the “Land of Opportunity” and the most exciting two hours of television in wrestling. Unfortunately, lately, the show simply does not feel alive anymore.
The energy has faded, the matches feel predictable, and the overall atmosphere is missing the spark that used to make Friday nights mandatory viewing.
To fix this, WWE needs to look back and learn from its own history. We need the intense rivalry, the unpredictable storylines, and the high-stakes matchups that defined the best eras of SmackDown. The show needs to feel less like a repetitive corporate broadcast and more like a live, chaotic sport where anything can happen. Fans want to see meaningful character development and competitive wrestling that keeps everyone on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
Right now, other wrestling shows are proving how great a weekly broadcast can be. Specifically, AEW Collision has been outshining SmackDown by delivering a product that feels fresh, gritty, and alive. Collision focuses heavily on hard-hitting action, logical storytelling, and giving different wrestlers a real chance to shine in the spotlight. It has that authentic, exciting wrestling energy that SmackDown has unfortunately lost.
Please take a look at what made SmackDown legendary in the past and what shows like AEW Collision are doing right today. Bring back the passion, shake up the roster, and make Friday nights feel important again. We want to love SmackDown, but you have to give us a show that feels alive.
